Biography

Dr Emad Farrag is a highly experienced UK-trained Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and the Director of Children’s Services and Head of Psychiatry at Global Care Hospital in Abu Dhabi. He completed his medical degree at Ain Shams University, Egypt in 1995 followed by his general psychiatry training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, UK. He later completed his advanced specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (UK). After completing his training, he became registered as an Approved Clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983 and registered as a Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the General Medical Council (UK). He is also a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK).

During his time in Abu Dhabi, Dr Farrag contributed his expertise at The Maudsley Center and more recently at The American Center for Psychiatry & Neurology (ACPN), where he served as the Clinical Lead for the Adult ADHD Service. At ACPN, he pioneered the development of the first Adult ADHD care pathway in Abu Dhabi and worked closely with ADEK to determine Special Educational Needs (SEN) & People of Determination (PoD).

Dr Farrag brings a wealth of experience in child and adolescent psychiatry to his current role and holds special interests in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of various conditions, including neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and ADHD, adult ADHD, depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD).

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Farrag is a Founding Member and Executive Board Member of the United Kingdom ADHD Partnership (UKAP) and actively contributes to the UKAP Training Subcommittee. Here, he develops and delivers teaching modules aimed at raising awareness of ADHD in primary care, educational settings, and among parents.

Dr Farrag is a strong advocate for early detection and intervention in childhood and the smooth transition into adult ADHD care. His contributions include the development of a specialist clinic for Adult ADHD in the UK, working with one of the largest private mental health providers, and spearheading the first Specialised Adult ADHD Care Pathway in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
